PM Borissov discusses Balkan Gas Hub in Azerbaijan

During his official visit to Azerbaijan on 14-15 March, Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borissov discussed the future of the Balkan Gas Hub with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The bilateral cooperation in the field of power engineering and the possibilities for the participation of Azerbaijan in the hub were the key agenda items of Borissov's talks in Baku.

The premier took part in the opening ceremony of the 7th Global Baku Forum organised by the NGO Nizami Ganjavi International Centre. The discussions were focused on the role of the great powers - China, the US, Russia and the EU - in the change in global politics as well as on the challenges before sustainable development. Later on, Borissov delivered a lecture to the participants in the forum putting the accent on the attempts by Bulgaria to ensure peace, stability and progress on the Balkans and the efforts Bulgaria is making towards these goals.

Both parties signed a tax regime agreement for the Interconnector project, as well as other contracts connected to key commitments and activities for the construction of the interconnector, including a loan agreement between the European Investment Bank and Bulgarian Energy Holding EAD, gas transmission agreements, etc.
