Michel in Tripoli: You have a unique opportunity to build a prosperous country

On Tuesday, EUCO President together with EC President Ursula von der Leyen will pay a visit to Ankara

During his visit to Libya, European Council President Charles Michel met on Sunday with President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Yunus al-Mnefi, and later on he exchanged views with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Al-Dabaiba and with Minister for Foreign Affairs Najla Mangoush.

“We command your efforts to come together in a spirit of national unity and reconciliation. The future of Libya is in your hands. You have a unique opportunity to build a united, sovereign, stable and prosperous country,” President Michel told Libyan PM.

He also pointed out that the EU stands by the Libyan people and its new leadership. We are ready to increase our support to a unified, sovereign, stable and prosperous Libya, Charles Michel said.

On 5 April, President Michel travelled to Tunisia, where he assured President Kais Saied of the EU's continued support. "We stand by Tunisia's side on the path of democracy," the European Council President reaffirmed.

On Tuesday EUCO President together with EC President Ursula von der Leyen will pay a visit to Ankara where they will meet with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They will attend as well a roundtable with representatives from IOM, UNHCR, UNICEF and UN Women.
