Jose Carreras performs with the Sofia Opera's orchestra

Jose Carreras

Spanish tenor Jose Carreras chose the orchestra of the Sofia Opera and Ballet for his concert at Arena Armeec Sports Hall on 11 May. The 67-member orchestra is well familiar with a large part of the classical opera arias that Carreras will sing in the Bulgarian capital.

The concert, in which a team of over 120 people is involved, is the Spanish tenor's farewell to the Bulgarian audience. Leading roles will be performed by young Bulgarian tenor Rosen Nenchev and soprano Ilina Mihailova who will sing opposite Carreras and will perform along with him the most popular arias which have secured for the great Spaniard an eternal place in the pantheon of Opera.

This is his last concert on the Balkans as well. The benefit performance by Carreras will be under the baton of Spanish conductor David Gimenez. Other guest musicians for the concert are expected to be announced soon.
