Germany faces another weekend of protests against coronavirus restrictions

New demonstrations are planned across Germany against coronavirus restrictions this weekend, dpa reported.  Protests are set to take place in the capital Berlin, Stuttgart, Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt and Hanover.

Stuttgart is expecting a smaller demonstration than the previous weekend, when some 5,000 people turned up. In Cologne about 500 people plan to form a human chain. The southern state of Bavaria is expecting 60 separate demonstrations, with about 1,000 due to attend the largest one in the state capital Munich.

Thousands took to the streets last weekend in cities throughout Germany, protesting against coronavirus restrictions and what they argue are violations of constitutional rights. Many also turned out for counter-demos against conspiracy theories and against right-wing groups that the police have warned could exploit the unrest.
