Germany extends social-distancing rules to 5 June with slight relax

Germany's federal and state governments have agreed in principle to prolong social-distancing rules until 5 June, but with slight relaxations, dpa reported, citing sources from the talks on Wednesday afternoon

Until now, people have been limited to meeting in pairs outside their homes, while keeping a distance of 1.5 metres, in order to prevent coronavirus infections. Now the members of two separate households will be allowed to meet, while still keeping their distance, the sources said.

Some states had already eased the social-distancing rules, with people allowed to meet in groups of up to five in the central state of Saxony-Anhalt, and visits to close family members permitted in Bavaria.
