EU foreign policy chief Borrell, commissioner Lenarcic go into quarantine

The EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell and Janez Lenarcic, the commissioner for crisis management, have gone into coronavirus quarantine, they announced on Tuesday via Twitter. They were informed that a member of the delegation travelling with them to Ethiopia last week has tested positive for coronavirus.

Both said in separate tweets that their last test had been negative and that they are awaiting the results of a further test. Lenarcic said he had no symptoms and felt well.

In the last few weeks several EU commissioners have self-isolated after contact with people who later tested positive. The commission's president, Ursula von der Leyen, quarantined for some time last week.

EU Research Commissioner Mariya Gabriel said last weekend that she had tested positive for coronavirus.
