De Block names ordering vaccines by four EU states "unreasonable"
Belgian health minister fully supports the Commission initiativeEuropost , Brussels
Belgian health minister Maggie De Block stated that it is "unreasonable" from some EU countries to negotiate a vaccine against the new coronavirus out of the joint initiative launched by the Commission.
She warned that in this way they are not only weakening their own position, but will shred everything and the Commission's overall initiative.
The Belgian health minister commented the move on Saturday, after France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands signed an agreement for supplying of 300 million doses of vaccine developed by the Oxford University’s Jenner Institute and the drugmaker AstraZeneca.
We continue to fully support the European Commission's joint initiative, because we believe that this is the best way to achieve maximum results for our citizens, De Block stated.
