Commissioner Bienkowska to speak at NATO-Industry Forum

On Tuesday EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Elzbieta Bienkowska will arrive in Berlin, where she will attend at the NATO-Industry Forum 2018. At the event the Commissioner will deliver a keynote address as will the Supreme Allied Commander General Andre Lanata, the Head of the German Chancellery Helge Braun and the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg. 

She will also have a bilateral meeting with Secretary General Stoltenberg to in particular provide an update on the European Defence Fund.

"I am looking forward to this exchange between EU, NATO and industry. It is timely at a moment when we are making ambitious moves towards more defence cooperation in Europe. I am convinced, that we need a vibrant, competitive, and innovative defence industry to tackle the defence challenges of today and tomorrow," Commissioner Bienkowska said ahead of the Forum.

This year's NATO-Industry Forum will focus on Innovation and Emerging & Disruptive Technologies. In the course of two days (12 and 13 November) participants can engage in round-tables on topics such as logistics & sustainment, enhanced military decision-making or disruptive technologies. The Forum welcomes prominent leadership from industries across the Alliance, as well as senior representatives from Allied nations and the European Union.

EU-NATO cooperation constitutes an integral pillar of the EU's work aimed at strengthening European security and defence, as part of the implementation of the EU Global Strategy.
