Belgians can travel to neighbour states to visit family, shopping

From this Pentecost weekend Belgians can again travel to neighbour countries to visit family or for shopping. This possibility was banned as a non-essential movement due to the coronavirus lockdown since March 20.

The news was announced by Belgian Interior Minister Pieter De Crem, who recalled that the four-person rule is still valid and all travelers need to strictly adhere to it, in order to diminish the possible impact on public health.

According to the exit strategy from the confinement measures, since 10 May it was allowed across Belgium a home visit of a maximum of four people. Minister De Crem asked the Group of Experts that are in charge of the Exit Strategy for an opinion on an application of the measure to cross-border visits.

He also commented the issue several times with his colleagues from the neighboring countries - Netherlands, France, Germany, Luxembourg, plus the Great Britain. Citizens from these five countries can also come to Belgium to do shopping or to visit their families.
