Volkswagen emissions probe widens to include Audi CEO
German prosecutors widened last Monday an emissions cheating probe into Audi by including the brand's CEO Rupert Stadler among the suspects accused of fraud and false advertising. As a first measure, police searched the apartment of Stadler and one other Audi's board member. The probe could trigger yet another crisis at Audi and its parent Volkswagen where, in April, Stadler was elevated to the post of head of group sales. Volkswagen declined to comment, while Audi said it was fully cooperating with prosecutors.
