Godless, directed by Ralitza Petrova, received a nod in the European Discovery category. At its international premiere in Locarno the film won the festival's grand prix and then went on to triumph in many other international and national festivals.
Tomislav Hristov's The Good Postman, a co-production with Finland that made a successful appearance at the IDFA festival in Amsterdam, is nominated for best European Documentary.
For the first time ever a Bulgarian film has been nominated for best European Comedy. It is King of the Belgians, a co-production of Belgium, the Netherlands and Bulgaria. The directors Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth started their whirlwind “royal” tour in Venice and are already considering a sequel that will deal with the dynamic processes happening in Europe and around the world.
