59 parties, 7 coalitions registered for entry in local elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered 59 political parties and seven coalitions for entry in the October 27, 2019 local elections, CEC member and Spokesperson Alexander Andreev told journalists here on Thursday.

A total of 64 parties and eight coalitions applied for registration by the September 11 deadline, but the CEC refused to register five parties and one coalition because their documents did not comply with the CEC decisions or their supporters' signatures were fewer than the required minimum of 2,500.
By comparison, 71 coalitions and three coalitions were registered at the previous local elections in 2015, out of 81 parties and three coalitions that filed for registration.
Parties, local coalitions and independent candidate nomination committees have until September 16 to register at the municipal election commissions, Andreev said.
