      EU-Vietnam trade agreement enters into force

      EU exports to Vietnam will be taxed less as of tomorrow, 1 August, as an immediate effect of the entry into force of the EU-Vietnam trade agreement that will ultimately scrap duties on 99% of all goods traded between the two sides. Doing business in Vietnam will also become easier for European companies, the EU press service reported.

      The Council of Ministers today approved the EU-Vietnam trade and investment agreements, paving the way for their signature and conclusion at the end of the week. EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom and Romanian Minister for Business, Trade and Entrepreneurship Stefan-Radu Oprea are now expected to sign the agreement on the EU's behalf in Hanoi on Sunday 30 June.

      President Donald Trump will reportedly hold his second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month in Vietnam, American media said, suggesting negotiations for the meeting were gathering pace. The  summit is highly likely to take place in the capital Hanoi, but Danang - the site of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting - and Ho Chi Minh City in the country’s south have also been considered.
