      One in four EU citizens reported feeling lonely during the first months of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report from the Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), presented on Monday. The report contains the latest scientific evidence on loneliness and social isolation in the EU, and analyses the survey by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, showing that feelings of loneliness doubled across all age groups in the early months of the pandemic, EC Press service reported.

      The European Investment Bank (EIB) sealed a €30 million credit agreement with the innovative Belgian biotechnology company Univercells. The venture loan is supported by the InnovFin Infectious Diseases Finance Facility (IDFF) under Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme for 2014-2020.

      The European Commission announced on Tuesday it will support 23 new research projects with €128m in response to the continuing coronavirus pandemic. The funding under Horizon 2020, the EU's research and innovation programme, is part of the Commission's €1.4bn pledge to the Coronavirus Global Response initiative, launched by President Ursula von der Leyen in May 2020, the Commission's Press service reported.
