TEFAF Maastricht: world leader in the art market

TEFAF Maastricht 2018

TEFAF returns to Maastricht from 16-24 March for its 32nd edition, and this year the grande dame is reinvigorated. Of the nearly 280 exhibitors at the fair, 38 are appearing for the first time and span fine art and furniture to jewellery. Thirteen feature in the modern section. Although the total number of stands remains roughly the same, changes to the selection procedure have allowed new exhibitors, including Pace Gallery, Galerie Gmurzynska, Simon Lee Gallery, Spruth Magers and Almine Rech, to join.

The impact of this decision is a revived market for art and antiques, which remains an unparalleled attraction for private collectors, museum curators, patrons, art professionals and art lovers from around the world. Many are attracted to Maastricht as a result of TEFAF's bi-annual presence in New York, which began in May 2017.

Established in 1988, TEFAF is widely regarded as the world's pre-eminent organisation for fine art, antiques and design. TEFAF runs three fairs internationally - TEFAF Maastricht, which covers 7,000 years of art history; TEFAF New York Spring, focused on modern and contemporary art and design; and TEFAF New York Fall, covering fine and decorative art from antiquity to 1920. TEFAF gives international dealers the platform to present museum-quality works of all eras and genres to a broad base of collectors and connoisseurs.
