Microsoft has decided to establish world's largest artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT lab and has reportedly chosen to do it in Shanghai. The announcement came after the district government of Pudong New Area and Microsoft (China) signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding.

According to media reports, the enormous lab is scheduled to officially begin operation in April this year and will represent global R&D organization dedicated to the R&D and industrialisation of AI and IoT solutions, as well as applications to assist IoT companies in developing their own products and solutions. Thus, it would be settled on the artificial intelligence (AI) island in Zhangjiang, Shanghai, which covers an area of 100,000 square meters and focuses on AI, big data, cloud computing, block chains, virtual reality, and augmented reality industries.

There, the cooperation will make full use of Zhangjiang’s strong scientific research resources and use Microsoft’s AI and IoT labs as supporting carriers to promote the integration and digital transformation of enterprises.
