MEPs urge Merkel to stop Nord Stream 2 gas project

Almost 100 MEPs from different political parties urged in an open letter German Chancellor Angela Merkel to stop the Nord Stream 2 gas project. They stressed that the “project continues to be developed in full speed despite all the concerns voiced from many of Germany's European neighbours and from European institutions.”

“Germany's position on Nord Stream 2 runs counter to the goals of the European Energy Union and increases the EU's energy dependency on Russia,” the letter states urging the chancellor to change the Germany's position on the project.
