Law and order

Country's borders are not guarded with flags, the state should enforce all its power

Law and Order is a top-charter US TV series. At first sight it may seem paradoxical but it is exactly the issue of law and order, i.e. security, that could have nearly toppled German Chancellor Angela Merkel and along with that destroyed the European Union altogether. The invitation Merkel sent to refugees and migrants in 2015 was not only ill-judged or an act of folly. More than that – it amounted to something much worse: it is a mockery of justice and order which is “sanctum sanctorum” for the Germans.

The efforts of France and Germany “to punish” the EU Member States that are not willing to accept refugees in their countries is also a mockery of justice. Where in the accession agreements, which these countries have undersigned, are there clauses that oblige them to accept people without documents, fake life stories and highly probable criminal past of Middle East terrorists.

Law and order are the borderline separating Civilization from jungle. Even a bad law and wrongful order are better than no law at all. We owe this wisdom to Romans who purported that Dura lex sed lex (The law is harsh but it is the law). The forces of evil in any community are similar to a live barometer that measures its current state. As soon as the grip of the law gets loose, they feel it and become unruly.

You cannot turn your back on law, and instead talk of European values, and to expect that security will be ensured. It won’t happen. The basic values of any person, not only a citizen of Europe, are his life and health, as well as the life and health of his near and dear. Everything else is politically correct bla-bla-bla that has already bored stiff the otherwise mild-tempered Europeans. Instead of talking about things important, i.e. law and order in Europe, and resolve issues amassed in this field, the leaders of Europe prefer to help the rescue of Chancellor Merkel. And their own rescue as well. Because Frau Merkel is now between the rock and the hard place, where the rock is the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the hard place is the Social Democratic Party of Germany, while her disaffected fellow party members from the Christian Democratic Union just stand by to see what will happen. At the point of the sword, the increasingly confused leader of German social democrats, Andrea Nahles, insists that Germany should persist in breaching law and order on its own territory. In its turn, the Christian Social Union declared that it will take unilateral measures to defend Germany with the help of their leader, Horst Seehofer. Well, this kind of ruling coalition is unthinkable, hence, it cannot take ground. Maybe, if the national team of Germany became the world football champion, instead of heading home shamefully before playoffs, Frau Merkel could be saved. Now it will not happen, no way! Even if it happens, it will be a temporary move with sad after effects for all. Big politicians should feel when to leave the political scene. Brussels tries to push through a 'migrant deal' to the poor and avid countries for big money. Albania has already declined it, Greece is still hesitating.

Apart from the fact that such a deal is not viable, even theoretically it will not resolve any problem whatsoever.

Today Africa has a population of one billion, give or take several dozens of millions, as no one has ever counted them. The rate of population growth there may amount to 5% and no less than 3%. Climate changes have a dramatic effect: in many regions of the continent the last resources of water are exhausted, and it is not potable water but any water at all. Let’s translate this information into numerical data. The population of Africa will probably increase by 50m a year. In 2015 two million migrants brought Europe to its knees. However, another ten million are waiting at its gates, and yet another hundred million stand behind their backs. Shall we let them in, keep them in camps in Africa, or send them to Erdogan by force of habit?

Against the background of these figures, all European talk about quotas, Dublin regulation, Schengen, European values and such like are not even funny. Law and order are not ensured by pleas and persuasions. They are imposed by force. The state borders are not protected with flags and barriers. They are protected with force involving all degrees of power. Flags and barriers only designate the place from where we start applying force. Any trespasser who jumps over the barriers, or tunnels under them, must go to jail.

The future of Christian Europe will be possible only if it succeeds in restoring law and order. In the sole possible way that we discussed above. If today’s leaders of Europe fail doing that, we have two scenarios left: either Europe will perish in disgrace, trampled by the new conquerors, or other people will come and show how to impose law and order, and how our borders should be protected.

It was not that long ago so I am sure that the older of my fellow journalists have not forgotten the obscurantist days our guild had to live through in Bulgaria. No, I am not referring to the years leading up to the events of 10 November 1989, but about the following decade.

The last leg of the election campaign is highly stressful for the behind-the-scenes players

These days, the minions of various indicted oligarchs are working overtime, churning out one text after the other – about non-existent gold (caricature) masks, rhinoceroses, letters to the Church, and a tonne more nonsense. All these masterpieces of thought are aimed at the same person – lawmaker of the civil quota of the opposition party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and Telegraph Media publisher Delyan Peevski.

As Christians, our mission is to be a sign of unity

Pope Francis' reflections at last Wednesday's General Audience were really a synthesis of his recent Apostolic journey to Bulgaria and North Macedonia. The Pope began by saying how, in Bulgaria, he was “guided by the living memory of Saint John XXIII”, who spent nearly ten years in the country as Apostolic Delegate.
